Following The Way of Jesus

This blog is intended for seekers of truth who are committed to doing the will of the Father. It’s OK if you don’t yet know the Father or the Son. In fact, those who don’t yet know either are less likely to be offended by truth than the majority who falsely imagine they know both (Jesus’ judgment: Matthew 7:13-14, 21-23).

There is one requirement: in order to gain insight, understanding, and enlightenment it is necessary to realize that none of us have a complete understanding of God’s will, and we are in need of each other’s insights and assistance in coming to a greater realization of how God would have us walk Jesus’ walk.

“Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” — 1 John 2:6 (NIV)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

“For we walk by faith, not by sight” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)

“Learn to do right; seek justice.
    Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
    plead the case of the widow.” — Isaiah 1:17 (NIV)

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
    And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
    and to walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8 (NIV)

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.” — Matthew 23:23 (NIV)

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” — Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV)

“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.” — Matthew 26:52 (NIV)

“Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 10:39 (NIV)

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” — Luke 6:31 (NIV)

“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. — Luke 6:27-28 (NIV)

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” — 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NIV)

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” — Ephesians 5:11 (NIV)

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.” — Romans 13:1-2 (NIV)

“Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!” — Acts 5:29 (NIV)

“But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

“Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” — James 2:18-19 (NIV)

“As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” — James 2:26 (NIV)

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?” — Matthew 7:15-16 (NIV)

“Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.” — John 14:23-24 (NIV)

“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” — Revelation 22:17 (NIV)
